Crafted from our own custom designed rotational mould, each KUGA Africa Edition 50 L Cooler takes approximately 10 days to build, designed specifically for maximum ice retention and durability for the African outdoors.

KUGA set out to build the ultimate cooler box in terms of durability, practicality, and aesthetics. Its heavy-duty polyethylene shell, polyurethane foam insulation and interlocking vacuum lid system provide 3-8 days of ice retention, while the compact 50 L design fits comfortably under a bakkie sail whilst your bottles stand up-right in the cooler.

Designed with convenience in mind, it features non-slip never-flat wheels, military grade aluminium handles, tie-down points, a quick-drain and pressure release plug, and an accurately scaled map of Africa on the lid.

Can melted ice water be drained without tipping the cooler?

Yes. Use the drain plug to release melted ice water, then rinse and dry the cooler after use.

What is the map of Africa on the lid for?

It’s a scale map that can help you estimate distances between places while planning a trip, or serve as a conversation starter around the campfire. It isn’t a GPS or navigation system.

Can I move the cooler when it’s fully loaded?

The wheels make it easier to move across suitable ground, and the handles help when lifting or carrying it. A fully loaded cooler can be heavy, so use the wheels where possible and get help when lifting.

Can I secure the cooler in my vehicle?

Yes. The built-in tie-down points let you secure the cooler during travel. Use suitable straps and make sure the cooler is firmly secured before driving.

How can I get the best ice retention from my cooler?

Pre-chill the cooler and its contents, pack it with plenty of ice, and limit how often and how long the lid is open. Make sure the lid is properly closed and sealed. Ice retention varies with the amount and quality of ice and the conditions in which the cooler is used. Keep the cold water in the cooler unless you’re adding fresh ice or need to empty it.

How long will the KUGA Africa Edition 50L Cooler keep ice?

The cooler is designed to keep ice for 3–8 days. Actual ice retention depends on how much ice you use, how often you open the lid, the surrounding temperature and how the cooler is packed.
